IJIMS Journal Successfully Maintained Q1 for Two Years in a row

SALATIGA-Jurnal Indonesian Journal of Islam and Muslim Societies (IJIMS) maintained the best Quartile 1 position in the Scimago Journal Rank (SJR) for two consecutive years. Previously, IJIMS succeeded in becoming the first journal from Indonesia to penetrate Q1 on May 31, 2019. The journal managed by the Graduate Program of IAIN Salatiga managed to rank third for the best journal in Asia according to SJR's version for the field of religious studies with an SJR of 0.174.

SJR is a portal that displays various world scientific journals and becomes an indicator to assess the quality of scientific journals based on the high number of citations and the quality of references used by these journals.

In the last assessment period, the total number of IJIMS citations increased from 12 to 14, with 34 documents that could be cited. The citation value per the IJIMS Journal paper increased, with a final result of 0.45. Meanwhile, the average number of references per document in 2019 was 38.67. On the list at SJR, IJIMS managed to outperform journals from Nanzan University Japan, Oxford University Press India, International Islamic University Malaysia, and other periodicals from China, Korea, and Taiwan.

"Thank God. For two years in a row, the IJIMS IAIN Salatiga journal is still rated Q1 according to the Scimago Journal Rank version. This achievement will certainly continue to be improved and maintained," said IAIN Salatiga Record, Prof. Dr. Zakiyuddin, M.Ag. According to him, journals are academic towers that reflect academic freedom and campus progress. "The achievements of these journals are one of the capitals towards UIN Salatiga."

"Four PTKIN journals, including IJIMS from IAIN Salatiga, have received the highest international recognition, which is being able to enter the Q1 category at SJR. This achievement is proud, and one should be grateful for it so that it can be an encouragement for other PTKIN," said the Acting Director-General of Education at the Ministry of Religion, Kamarudin Amin.

Director of Islamic Higher Education, Arskal Salim, said similarly, "This extraordinary achievement is the result of long hard work and dedication from all parties who are directly involved in the process of improving the quality of publications at PTKI in recent years." He hopes this achievement can motivate other journals within UIN, IAIN, and STAIN to achieve similar achievements.

The first IJIMS was published in 2011. As of February 2020, IJIMS has published 34 editions with a distribution of writers from within and outside the country. At the beginning of 2020, IJIMS was ranked 50th out of 456 world's best journals according to Scopus' version in the field of Religious Studies. In addition, IJIMS also succeeded in bringing IAIN Salatiga to get the Best State Islamic Religious University (PTKIN) award for Research and Scientific Publications in International Journal Management 2019 from the Ministry of Religion of the Republic of Indonesia and was awarded as a reputable international journal The Best Quartile 1 (Q1) at the event Biannual Conference on Research Results (BCRR) 2019 at UIN Gunung Djati Bandung.
