Program S-2 Pendidikan Bahasa Indonesia Gelar Pelatihan dan Pendampingan Penulisan Artikel di Jurnal Terindeks Sinta dan Scopus

 

FKIP – Program Magister (S-2) Pendidikan Bahasa Indonesia Fakultas Keguruan dan Ilmu Pendidikan (FKIP) Universitas Sebelas Maret (UNS) Surakarta gelar kegiatan pelatihan dan pendampingan penulisan artikel di jurnal terindeks Sinta dan Scopus. Kegiatan dilaksanakan di Gedung E FKIP UNS pada Sabtu (16/07/2022).

Kegiatan ini menghadirkan dua narasumber, yakni Dr. R. Kunjana Rahardi, M.Hum., selaku Dosen Universitas Sanata Dharma dan Faizal Risdianto, S.S., M.Hum., selaku Dosen Institut Agama Islam Negeri (IAIN) Salatiga. Kedua narasumber merupakan ahli di bidang penulisan artikel jurnal serta menjadi pengelola pada jurnal bereputasi. Kegiatan ini dimoderatori oleh Chafit Ulya, S.Pd., M.Pd., selaku Dosen Pendidikan Bahasa Indonesia FKIP UNS.

Kegiatan diawali dengan sambutan. Sambutan pertama disampaikan oleh Dr. Sumarwati, M.Pd. Ia menyampaikan alasan pelaksanaan kegiatan ini karena adanya temuan bahwa mahasiswa S-2 mengalami kendala untuk lulus tepat waktu.

“Kegiatan ini merupakan tindak lanjut dari tim GKM bahwa adanya kendala mahasiswa lulus tepat waktu. Umumnya kendala ditemui karena mahasiswa kesulitan menulis artikel yang terpublikasi pada jurnal internasional terindeks Scopus. Harapannya, kegiatan ini dapat menambah ilmu dan wawasan mahasiswa agar sukses menempuh studinya,” terang Dr. Sumarwati selaku Kepala Program Studi (Kaprodi) S-2 Pendidikan Bahasa Indonesia.

Why is the ESCI Web of Science indexing level not equivalent or on the same level as Scopus indexed journals?

 Dear Academicians,

I found out Indonesian REGISTER JOURNAL states on the web https://journalregister.iainsalatiga.ac.id/index.php/register/index that it had already been indexed in ESCI Web of Science: https://mjl.clarivate.com/cgi-bin/jrnlst/jlresults.cgi?PC=MASTER&ISSN=1979-8903 but there is one big question in my mind: Does the indexed journal in ESCI Web of Science belongs to Core Collection of WoS?

There are two different stances on these Questions among my fellow academicians in Indonesia. On the one hand, some people think that ESCI WoS is just indexing for the middle class like DOAJ, EBSCO, ASEAN Citation Index, and some even say that ESCI WoS is "half-hearted" indexing that has not yet entered the core collections of the Web of Science. Core collections in this context are the web of Science products already indexed in the high class, namely SSCI, SCIE, and AHCI.

On the other hand, ESCI belongs to the core collection but does not have an Impact Factor, and at least there is a positive point if a journal has been indexed on the ESCI Web of Science:

The ESCI Web of Science is another highway for journal internationalization. Journal managers still don't dare to register their journals with Scopus/maybe they have registered but are subject to an embargo. The internationalization of journals means that there will be a lot of interest from Foreign authors such as Turkey, Russia, Pakistan, Iran, Thailand, Malaysia who are interested and highly regard any product from WoS, even if it is just ESCI WoS.
