Mulai tahun 2023, pemerintah Indonesia resmi menghapus kewajiban publikasi karya ilmiah di jurnal nasional terakreditasi maupun jurnal internasional bereputasi (seperti yang terindeks Scopus) sebagai syarat kelulusan bagi mahasiswa S2 (magister) dan S3 (doktoral). Kebijakan ini tertuang dalam Permendikbudristek Nomor 53 Tahun 2023 tentang Penjaminan Mutu Pendidikan Tinggi [1][2][3].

#### Pokok Perubahan

- *Mahasiswa S2 dan S3 tetap wajib menyelesaikan tugas akhir* (tesis/disertasi, prototipe, proyek, atau bentuk lain yang sejenis), namun tidak lagi diwajibkan untuk mempublikasikan hasilnya di jurnal ilmiah nasional atau internasional sebagai syarat kelulusan[2][3][4].

- Bentuk tugas akhir kini lebih fleksibel dan dapat ditentukan oleh masing-masing program studi atau perguruan tinggi, sesuai dengan kebutuhan dan karakteristik bidang keilmuan[5][4].

#### Alasan Penghapusan

- *Mengurangi beban administratif dan finansial* mahasiswa serta perguruan tinggi.

- Memberikan keleluasaan kepada program studi untuk menentukan bentuk pembuktian kompetensi lulusan, tidak hanya melalui publikasi ilmiah[5][6].

REGISTER JOURNAL, 1979-8903 (PRINT)- 2503-040X (ONLINE), The Journal of English for Islamic Educational Institutions and Moslem Communities aims to provide a dedicated platform for the dissemination of research, best practices, and innovative approaches related to the teaching and learning of English within Islamic educational contexts. The journal focuses on enhancing the quality of English education in Islamic schools, colleges, universities, and other educational institutions while also considering Muslim learners' unique cultural, religious, and linguistic needs.

This journal has been published every June and December by Universitas Islam Negeri Salatiga Indonesia and accredited by the Indonesian Ministry of Research, Technology and Higher Education (RistekDikti) of the Republic of Indonesia in SINTA (Achieving SINTA 2) since April 7, 2022. The recognition was published in the Director Decree (SK No. 105/E/KPT/2022), effective until 2025. This journal was successfully indexed in CLARIVATE ANALYTICS, Emerging Sources Citation Index (ESCI) of Web of Science in June 2019. It was also successfully indexed in Pakistani HJRS Journal indexing.

Intending to improve the quality of the Journal since 19th October 2016, this journal officially cooperated with ELITE Association Indonesia (The Association of Teachers of English Linguistics, Literature & Education). See The MoU Manuscript.

Concerning the new change in focus and scope that emphasizes REGISTER JOURNAL as the Journal of English for Islamic Educational Institutions and Moslem Communities, since 2024, this journal has collaborated with the Professional Community in English research and teaching called IARELTII (Indonesian Association on Research in English Language Teaching at Islamic Institutions)  whose main target is research, teaching, and development of Islamic English.
